If I have to run a compression measure on a time series which has lots of variance, does it makes sense to run the measure on a z-scored data?

Group comparison will be robust with z-scored data (human subjects inter individual variability is high). I am gathering thoughts on this topic to have a better pipeline to pre-process EEG data.
