Hello, did anyone ever use a TaqMan® Gene Expression Assay (Applied Biosystems) in combination with the LightCycler® TaqMan® Master Mix (Roche) in a real time PCR? I must use the LightCycler® TaqMan® Master Mix from Roche because I have the instrument LightCycler 2.0, which works with glass capillaries instead of plastic plates, and master mixes from Applied B. are not compatible with capillaries. Teoretically, there's no reason why such a combination of reagents should be wrong, but the Applied B. does not recommend the use of master mixes other than their own.

If I was you I'd just try it. As you said there's no reason why it should. the reason why AB recommends their own products only, is because they want to sell them...

Actually I should try to mix the reagent. That's the reasonable thing to do. I only hope I won't waste time and money, my experiments are pretty urgent! :)
