I resently made the expression and purification of a GST recombinant protein. I am wondering whether this protein can have its function by added in the 293T or HeLa cell culture?
If not, any methods to make this protein have function?

In my experience GSTs will conjugate electrophilic compounds (most have a wide electrophilic substrate profile, but many have preferences for particular elecctrophile classes) with glutathione (you'll likely need to add additional gluthathione to the media) in very readily in simple buffers and media. Extracellular GSTs under such conditions can protect cells from toxic electrophiles added to the media.

, Thank you very much.I understand now that my recombinant protein may have no function in cell culture because it is a Intracellular protein.
The difficulty for me to transfect the plasmid of this gene, is the low efficiency of transfection in HeLa or my working cells even by Lipo2000.
