When performing Western blot, I noticed that using the His tag antibody results in a high background with several bands appearing. I am unsure why these bands are present. Are there alternative protein tags, such as the Myc tag, that might provide a cleaner background with fewer non-specific bands?

I noticed that with his-tag antibodies too, I now use the V5 epitope (residue sequence: GKPIPNPLLGLDST) and anti-V5 antibody which gives really clean Western blots. I've done a couple with a flag tag and antibody too and those were also cleaner than his-tag blots.
