Hi. I have some questions about the movement of bacteria inside macrophage.
1) Anyone knows that whether bacteria will move around inside macrophage?
2)Also, once bacteria get uptake by macrophage, is it possible that the bacteria can still escape from macrophage?
3) If I infect macrophage at a low MOI, can I assume that those bacteria generally won't escape from the macrophage?
4) Is there a way to make bacteria, like E. coli stay stable inside macrophage so that I can keep track of it and do imaging?

As macrophages instead of phagocytosis mechanisms also serve as a host for intracellular pathogens so within these macrophages bacteria can survive and replicate easily and once it will get a chance means when environment is suitable it can easily comes out.
When a bacteria is engulfed by a macrophage, it will be able to move inside it, replicate and survive for a certain period of time and may be able to resume its life if it escapes.
