Hello everyone, I'm currently working with a Small Shelly Fossils assemblage from El Jagüelito Formation (Late Cambrian). One of the fossils I have is this one (preserved in a metagrauvaca), aproximately 3 cm in length with what it seems like some preserved ornamentation/striation in a few areas.
Does anyone have an idea of what might be? And could recommend papers in case you do?

Beside the fact that the presence of macrofossils in metamorphic rocks are unlikely ... based on you photograph it looks like a pseudofossil ... an imprint of probably softer sediment like silt which weathered out ... If your impression is really a fossil remain, you should think about a trilobite cephalon spine maybe ...

This nice specimen does not seem to be a fossil fragment. I would try to prepare thin section to compare the composition of the two different coloured parts.

IT is very rare to find a fossils in metamorphic rocks, and if you find it, it is very hard to identify it and knowing which group that belong to. try to make a thin section may you find something more clearer than this.
