ok, so the best way (in my experience) is to dissect out the area that you are interested in...usually on ice and quickly, then you just put quickly in an eppendorf tube or a 15-ml tube, then drop it in liquid nitrogen and store @-80°C..it will last months..
After killing the mouse, rapidly excise the brain and dissect out on ice (if required), then snap freeze in liquid nitrogen and keep at 80°C until further analysis.
Hi everyone, I know this is an old thread but would any of you recommend the right method of storing mice brains "temporarily" until I get mouse genotyping data, if I aim to use my brains to grow primary microglial cultures? I am looking for a technique to store my brains without stressing or damaging the tissue until my genotyping results are in (takes 2 days) and I unfortunately have to sacrifice my mice and harvest brains at the same time I collect tissue for genotyping at Post-natal day 2.Thanks!
