I would like to prepare polymer powders from polymer beads that I intend to use for laboratory experiments, therefore I need grind them to sizes between 40 and 100 microns, but I don't know which instrument or procedure to use. I have used a centrifuge milling machine with liquid nitrogen but I could only manage to produce particles not less than 200 microns.

Polymer microparticles are commercially available. I'm not sure why you would want to make your own. However, if you wanted to buy some the first supplier that came up was a company called PolyGroup Inc. I'm sure there are other microbead manufacturers out there also, at a range of prices and sizes. They also have different edge characteristics like rounded or angular. Whatever comes out of a mill like what you tried is going to be angular in edge form as you are fracturing the beads by your process. Depending on what you are looking at the edges can have an effect.
Retsch CyroMill will lead to D90 certainly below 500µm. So dependant of the sample material you may get maybe D50 < 100 µm if lucky.
Use a mill just as Tanja describes. This can be done in combination with a bead dispenser.
Are you still filling wells with beads by hand?
