Does anyone know if (and how) potassium dichromate affects DNA?

I have coccidian oocysts (probably from the Isospora and Eimeria genera) stored in potassium dichromate. Has anyone sequenced DNA from ooccysts stored in this and do they know if it reduces DNA yield when extracting with for example a Qiagen kit etc. Any advice would be greatly appreciated
