Some context: I work in a Chilean university, and given the recent developments in my country, me and my colleagues are seriously revising some of our practices and our approach to research, among other things. Being a long-time Linux and R user, I came up with the idea of trying to emulate some collaborative methods I have seen implemented in the open-source world. I am particularly interested in trying to build research teams that can work anonymously. More precisely, under a collective name with no individual researcher(s) appearing as lead author(s). Very much the way you reference R software when you cite it. Given the way universities usually “reward” projects and publications, such an approach might seem unattractive inasmuch as some colleagues might think that they are asked to work hard on projects and/or articles without receiving any individual credit. The question is… has anyone been involved in something similar or does anyone know of similar experiences? I would really appreciate any inputs, whether literature, references, web sites, etc.
