It seems that endothelin 1 would induce some more cellular changes, like those in neurons and astrocytes. What else we can use instead of endothelin 1?
it works very well in mice and rats with the one advantage that you will get re-perfussion once the vasoconstriction relaxes about 24 hrs later.
another model that works well in mice and so so in rats is photothrombosis. light sensitive dye is injected followed by laser over the region of brain you want to stroke. no reperfusion happens with this.
we use both these models but there are others to think of as well
