Hi Katalin, Schön's book contains some excellent narrative accounts of facilitating adults' learning. It's not framed as a study of 'coaching', but is directly relevant:
Schön, Donald A. 1983. The reflective practitioner: how professionals think in action. New York: Basic Books.
Libri, V. & Kemp, T. (2006). Assessing the efficacy of a cognitive behavioural executive coaching programme. International Coaching Psychology Review, 1, 2, 9 – 20.
Probably not exactly what you're looking for (not a study but a framework for narrative coaching)
Drake, D. & Stelter, R. (2014). Narrative Coaching. In: J. Passmore (Ed.), Mastery in Coaching : A complete psychological toolkit for advanced coaching, 65-96. London: Kogan Page.
I just finished my PhD with the thesis: The Road to Exceptional Expertise and Success - A Study of the Collective Creativity of Five Multiple Olympic Gold Medalists.
In the study I interviewed multi-time Olympic Champions and their coaches. It is not a narrative study, but it has five athlete stories and their analyze. Enclosed is the link.
Hi and thank you sooo much for taking the time and answering in this thread. A very specific request, indeed, as it only can occure from a schooling context: in the doctoral school I have to take a closer look at a piece of qualitative research which was made by narrative method. And since I'm working in the field of coaching, I decided to find narrative research on coaching, somehow. - with your help. Thank you again.
so this time I really need a piece of narrative research and yes, at the end I could finde something (see link). Thank you very much for all the valuable other hints!!!
I have conducted a narrative coaching study together with Dr. Liisa Mäkelä on how coaching develops the development of career capital in the expatriate context. The article will come out in the next issue of the international journal of evidence based coaching and mentoring. Kind greetings,
Dear Katalin also try David Drakes new chapter in the recently published The SAGE handbook of Coaching 'working with narratives' chapter 16. You could also try the International journal of evidence based coaching and mentoring which we publish as an open access journal - See the link below, from the international centre for coaching and mentoring studies at Oxford Brookes university
Dear Raija Salomaa, thank you for your highly relevant answer to my Q. However, I can't wait now :( Am I close to your findings if I use the conference paper of yours https://www.researchgate.net/publication/311649852_COACHING_FOR_CAREER_CAPITAL_DEVELOPMENT_A_STUDY_OF_EXPATRIATES%27_NARRATIVES?
