please connect to Dr bahram kiabi and Dr Asghar abdoli. They are my teachers and working on 3 species of Tilapia in Iran. Tilapia genus are invasive alien species in Iran that have had harmful effects on wetlands and rivers in South west of Iran.
Carol, no CLOFFSCA tem a seguinte informação sobre a família Auchenipteridae (Tatia, Glanidium, Parauchenipterus e Trachelyopterus) : "Auchenipterids are unique among catfishes in at least one aspect of their reproductive biology. All species are thought to undergo internal insemination and the female does not necessarily expel her mature ova immediately following spawning. Instead, females may carry mature, unfertilized eggs and packets of sperm insider her reproductive organs for an extended period of time before triggering fertilization and deposition of the eggs. This presumably allows the female time to search for a suitable location for egg deposition after spawning."
