I do work with Linlab. I've never tried to use it with other manipulators, but I doubt it, since the software has been exclusively developed for the scientifica interfaces. So, the point really is the interface. I'd exclude that Linlab could work with any other interface but maybe you can adapt your sutter manipulator/TT to a scientifica interface.

Thanks Francesco. I hear there may be some similar features worked out for Sutter manipulators and that there should be some info on that at SFN at the Sutter exhibitors booth this year. Not sure how good it might be.

Do you specifically use the LinLab follow function? Is this as great as it sounds?

Well, I am always skeptical towards automated functions. I was not very impressed with it but also, I do not really work with multiple patches. IT works, but if for instance you are patching in brain slices i find it quite useless.... What are you trying to do?

I need to have capabilities for quadruple patch recordings in human brain slices (or mouse). It seems intuitive that this feature should make the work proceed faster and smarter but it sounds that in your experience it may not be so good.

well, as long as you move all your four pipettes in the bath and hence you follow all four of them while your getting close to your slice, assuming that all the four cells you want to patch are in the same visual field, then the function is definitely useful. But using once you're inside the slice... it might mess things up. I guess you have to try and see, since I definitely never worked with four el at the same time...

Thanks for your comments here. I am about to help to set a rig for a friend who has inherited a rig with LinLab. I have worked before with Axograph and PClamp, but have no experience with. I was wondering Jonathan, if you have tried this software and willing to comment?
