I am looking for data or personal experience with a semi-quantitative protein screen being used to identify biomarkers and then following up with a quantitative test and finding either correlation or no correlation between the two tests.
Not exactly an answer but rather a question to you. How do you define semi-quantitative? In my eyes, an analysis is either quantitative or not, hence no room for "semi-quantitative". I can understand though that some assays cannot perform quantification with high level of accuracy. If this is what you mean by semi-quantitative array then where is the borderline between quantitative and semi-quantitative? Would not be easier to talk about quantification if any attempt was made to estimate the amount/concentration of an analyte and provide the error it was measured/calculated? Or your question is more directed to the quality of protein arrays that estimate the protein levels with different accuracy?
