If so:

  • Do you observe animal mortality in the hours/days following the implantation surgery?
  • What seems to be the cause of death in those cases? (i.e. blood loss, ischemic damage, embolism)

From literature searches, it seems that some researchers experience high mortality rates from surgical/post-op complications. This is not surprising since the implantation surgery requires separation, puncturing and cannulation of the large descending aorta. However, I am continuously looking to refine this procedure and would like to hear others' experiences!
