We are developing a microarray platform that is capabable of detecting as many as 300 individual gene resistance targets (23-30 base pair sequences) that one would see in clinical specimens. I have a list that is partially complete and I need input to complete it. The genes shown have been sequenced and are readily available as oligos for use in this assay.

This should be a good start. Prof Roberts also maintains a list on her website (often linked from previous publications).

It would be great to be able to detect all resistance genes of all the clinically relevant bacteria, but there is really a very long list, even though 300 seems good. In spite of this, I believe that compromises will have to be made. The isolate frequency can vary dependent on region, economic status and age group of patients. Therefore a list of the target bacteria would be a good start.
