Dear Folks,
Does anyone have the list of bacteria found in treated water (the case could be in US, UK, or anywhere? I find it hard to get the journal). I would like to know what kind of bacteria that could infect algae. I plan to culture the algae in treated water. Has anyone ever done it before? If you do not mind, please share your experiences or thoughts.

Water treatment plants vary greatly in their processes, especially relating to the source water. Plants treating surface water are going to have low numbers of bacteria survive the treatment processes, especially Bacillus species and other endospore forming bacteria, because many of the endospores survive even chlorine. Well system will have fewer Bacillus spp., but might have other bacteria persist because the water isn't treated as vigorously. You also will have the development of biofilms in the system, especially in the plumbing of houses and businesses.
