Does a ssDNA(44nt) and dsDNA(44bp) with same number of bases travel same distance on a non denaturing gel?

I did Gel mobility shift assay to check whether my protein can bind with dsDNA. I ran ssDNA(44nt in length) as well as the dsDNA(44bp in length) on a 8% non denaturing gel and I found that the ssDNA as well as the dsDNA have travelled a same distance. Being a bigger molecule 44 base pair long dsDNA should have travelled a lesser distance.
