In May 2020, i.e. at the time when the above question was posted on this discussion forum, there were no confirmed data or research results that would confirm that there is more than one variant of the SARS-CoV-2 (Covid-19) coronavirus. Perhaps then, during the 1st wave of the pandemic, there was only one dominant variant of the Coronavirus. However, now (January 2021) we already know that the virus quickly mutates and creates new variants. These new variants of the Coronavirus are causing new waves of the pandemic. It may be that in a specific area situation, a new Coronavirus strain causing Wave 2 pandemic emerges in a specific Coronavirus population that is causing Wave 2 pandemic. Therefore, in a given area, more than one variant of the Coronavirus may occur simultaneously in a given community.
