I've found quite a few scales for vicarious and personal embarassibility as a personality trait so far (i. e. Kelly & Jones, 1997; Maltby & Day, 2000; Uysal et al., 2014...). As I'd like to have a larger sample rate specific contents on their capability to evoke a state of embarassment, I was wondering if there was a good instrument for this specific task. Your response is greatly appreciated.
Don't know of one offhand - let's hope someone else knows of a scale that's just right for your purposes! But if not, I'd suggest adapting one of the "trait" measures. Probably some (most?) of the items can be rephrased slightly, or the instructions modified, to change it into a "state" measure. Not as good as using a previously validated instrument, but perfectly acceptable under the circumstances.
