Thanks Chana I already read you paper and I will include your findings in my review of related literature. Some of the findings gives clarity to my argument of the prominence of religious affiliation and identity among Muslim adolescents.
To Ali and Bernardo - I really wish to understand the salience, prominence and commitment to religious identity relative to the national and ethnic identity among Muslim Youth in Cotabato City. The context of the study is one of the city in the southern region in the Philippines. The population is Multi-ethnic and Islamized. The majority of the population is Islamized Maguindanaoan and Iranum with other Islamized tribes like the Tausug, Maranao and Yakan. Still a significant portion of the population are Christians and Catholics.
I wish to understand the role of the educational experiences among Muslim youth attending their secondary education in Cotabato City in the formation of their identity. They have three choices to attend private madrasah, public secular education, or public secular education with weekend class on Arabic Language and Islamic Education.
Does the difference in educational experiences among these students affect their religious, ethnic and national affiliation?
I understand now. It's an amazing study, but what I can offer you now is something related to this subject in the Arab world, and I do not know how it can be invested in your study only if we make something in between two cultures (Arabic, Filipino)
Thank you, I also want to hear from other perspective. The relationship between ethnic, religious and national identity maybe is different in the Arab world and Western countries. It will be an interesting literature as well to incorporate those studies in mine.
According to your last answer I sent you a message on your Research Gate email, if any problem in reading it please contact me on my email: [email protected]
Thank you for showing interest to my paper, I will send it to you when I get to the right computer. It is an interesting topic that you have chosen. I know that Jenny Berglund and Inkeri Rissanen work on similar issues in Europe. I suggest that you get into contact with them if you already have not. I am also preparing articles on young Muslims' discourses on religious commitment and religious education, but it will take some time before I can share them.
