I have finished 3 marathons in Belfast City Marathon during my PhD. In Egypt we have several marathons, Alexandria Marathon is one of them. In Cairo I have participated in half Marathon. It was planned to have a full marathon 26.2 miles in 2018.
In Belfast City Marathon 2004 there were Finishers: 1176, Males - 993 , Females - 183, Male Winner: 2:23:51 | Female Winner: 2:52:52 Average Finish Time: 4:07:47 | STD: 0:41:44
A big marathon event, called Osaka Marathon, is held each year in Osaka city, which is next to Sakai city where I live.
The event is jointly hosted by the Japan Association of Athletics Federations and Yomiuri Shimbun, a Japanese national newspaper. The first edition took place on October 30, 2011. In total, 27161 runners started the marathon race and of these 26175 finished the full distance (this paragraph is quoted from https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Osaka_Marathon, where you can find more about this event).
The above number of runners is the total of six years. So, the number of runners per year is about 4500. This year, the event will be held on November 26. I like to watch the race on TV but don't participate in it (I'm very poor at sports).
