Do I endorse ??? may be not for one reason when you are watched 24 x7 that is reality TV not teaching or learning or even worse , we are not reliable (with our skills) .

So , no I believe teaching involves 100% trust between the teacher and student (without 3rd party involvement !)

I would want my students to learn and understand the way I did , not forced to follow rules and bookish theory . I like involvement , I crack jokes while I teach and I want them to be interactive too , not to be conscious that they are being "watched" .

I don’t think it is right to use a camera in the class. It will affect classroom civility and hamper spontaneous teaching and learning. It will encourage mechanical behaviour.

I do not believe that this is a good way of supervising the work done by teachers. Teachers need complete freedom to put their didactic planning into practice and the classroom should be a free and democratic environment. As for the lack of commitment of some professionals with the teaching-learning process. I see as a good exit the use of evaluation questionnaires answered by students. Usually a teacher does not teach classes for a single class or for a single student. If anything in the work performed by the dossier is not in accordance with the Political and Pedagogical Plan of the Entity of Entity, this will appear through complaints from the students themselves. And even applies with the follow-up of the students through the class councils.

I don't believe there are enough evidence to believe that the use of security cameras in class rooms improve teaching and learning. However, data from such cameras can be useful in case of emergency (security breach, fire, etc). For me, I would like to consider these factors for a given institution before my recommendation.

No, I do not endorse video monitoring of classrooms. However, I feel video technology should be available to any instructor who wants to record their class session to watch themselves teach and learn how to improve.

For an ethical teacher, it doesn't matter how management is monitoring them. But micro-managing has never been positive, so CCTV monitoring is not advised.

It kills the creativity of the teaching professionals. There are other feedback methods instead of CCTV surveillance. A institute can insist better screening mechanism in selection of the teaching professionals.

However, as academicians and scholars who are dedicated to bringing relief to the pain of mankind, we always have to re-evaluate the polices implemented by the authorities that are not auguring well for workers using those policies. In the field of education as can be seen from the previous comments, many instructors do not buy the use of CCTV cameras as a monitoring mechanism in knowing the efficacy of instructors. Yet, there are other means suggested such as the use of performance indices of teachers and the feedback from students through teacher performance questionnaire. We must look at all the pros and cons to come out with better monitoring and supervisory strategies to access the teaching and learning activities of instructors. Do you endorse the use of CCTV cameras by some educationists in educational institutions?

May be we need to findout what is the real purpose of deploying CCTV cameras in institutions e.g. for security purpose, evaluation purpose, research study purpose, multipurposes etc. CCTV cameras normally meant for security reason (its features / resolution might not suitable for evaluation / research purpose). If it is for evaluation or research study, informed consent need to be sought first & appropriate video camera need to deploy so that we can capture the needed information including presentation slides, whiteboard writings, participant interactions etc.
