The VIZIONS project in Vietnam in 2018 examined bat and rat urine and faeces. Alpha coronavirus was found in bats, beta in rats, with a comment that rats in China also carry coronavirus.
So, could rats play a part in the current Covid-19 transmission, or has this been ruled out?

It has been named an early warning system...
This Corona-Virus has proven to easily jump species barriers in nature (also to cats and tigers and possibly pangolins) - I think it is highly problable that rats will be a reservoire for its spread and sustianance if we manage to press it out of the human population (but mind - we are far from that currently)...
Hosts are also our domesticated cats at home...
