Hi,

I plan on analyzing serotonin on fish brain. To do that, I will be cryosectioning , applying a stain, and micropunching brain tissue for posterior high performance liquid chromatography (HPLC) analysis.

I was trying to determine the appropriate staining technique/dye to visualize brain structures for micropunching. I was reading about Bodian staining technique (for neurofilament visualization) and Nissl-stain cresyl violet. Will Bodian staining damage the brain tissue for posterior chemical analysis using HPLC? What about Nissl-stain cresyl violet? Any insight will helpful. Thanks!
