We are working with a Malvern Zsizer Nano ZS and the instrument is giving us an error message “the count rate is too low….” in automated measurements. It seems unable to find optimum attenuator and measuring position. However, the counts (Count Rate Meter) are too high > 10000 kcps all the time, regardless sample absence or presence, attenuator used, etc. Although systematical high count rate, when a sample is inserted the count rate seems to be “sensitive” to attenuator and measuring position, it changes for example from 10900kcps (attenuator 0) to 13500kcps (attenuator 11). The instrument is only 2 years old and the degree of use has been low. Could the problem be due to APD damage, with just that long of use? Has someone experience similar problems?
