Dear Colleagues,

Suppose that you have a random sample of size n from the set of positive integers. Some of the elements of this random sample will be prime numbers. Determine the positions of these prime numbers in the random sample. How are the gaps between these positions are distributed? It seems to me that they follow the gamma distribution.

Are there any research studies dealing with this subject?

Thanks so much.
