you're comparing apples and oranges. One is eigenvalue (vector) and the other one is a scalar quantity :)

Abhimanyu Kumar I know but what i wanted to know is : shouldn't they depict mostly the same crack pattern? I mean, where there is damage >0 should be plastic strain. Reading the manual PE, mAX. principal should be checked to understand the crack pattern. So, Damaget doesn't shows the crack pattern.

Why where there's damage (figure) there is no PE?

Therefore, dt and equivalent plastic strain is scalar variables representing all the plastic strain components and other filed components

However, PE principal Max is maximum principal plastic strain component.

There are three principals Minimum, intermediate, and maximum principal .

Also, there is maximum shear strain. It is a vector

I suggest that you show the PEEQT, the tensile equivalent plastic strain, not the PE principal maximum. This takes all the plastic strain components in the calculations. Also, you need to find out how PEEQT is calculated? I guess that The formula of calculating PEEQT is the answer for your question ...

Also, you may need to refine the contours levels because you compare two items with different units (two different items as Kumar told)
