We are using Sievers M9 TOC analyzer for TOC measurements. We injected freshly collected water from Milli-Q purification system and observed TOC value is 105 ppb. Whereas the TOC value is 1 ppb while collecting the water. Here, water collected into a new vial and injected immediately.
Why huge difference in TOC results between these two data..?
Does it repeat with each sample you take?
So you can discard the efects of the vials?
Has the problem appears suddenly?
It could be a good idea to take the samples in situ and check along a time range, it is for sure you will find something.

Hi Bhargava,
sampling is the first step in all analytical procedures. Errors made here affect the analytical result and cannot be corrected afterwards. As a rule of thumb, 80% of the total analytical error is caused by incorrect sampling.

Thanks for your valuable suggestions.
I have started using the system after the recent calibration and did not injected any samples. Started with system suitability check and it is failed due to high TOC in water.
Is there any possibility issue in calibration..?
