As we all know, different bacteria has different generation time, but I wonder if we can add something special in the culture-medium to make all aerobic bacteria have a similar generation time in the same culture conditions(the same culture-medium with the same addition).
Is it possible to come true?
Probably it is not possible because if you are just looking at aerobic organisms the range is doubling times as fast as 10 minutes and as slow as 24 hours. Also you can not find a single medium that all aerobic organisms will grow.

I think even among Bacillus strains it would be difficult, especially because they have very different temperature optimums, some Bacillus strains are thermophilic and others mesophilic, so that alone would make it difficult. But if you just look at the mesophilic strains you might come close by growing at reduced temperatures (like 10-14degC). But that is just a guess.

By the way, what about coli group ?So far I have 4 different kinds of E.coli,when be cultured in the same condition, some of them increased very fast, the others very slow. Did the generation time of them(the coli group) have so big difference? Is there a way to solve this? Looking forward to your answer or advise!
Natural isolates of bacteria are likely to have very different growth properties. Remember that a fast rate of growth is not always a particular advantageous trait in the environment. Try growing at cooler temperatures to see if that helps.

No! nobody knows how to do that because there is a world of differences among bacteria. It is impossible. It is not possible to make all of us have the same level of understanding, or is it?
Yunguang Wang - If your goal is to develop some new diagnostic tools, the fact that you are relying on equivalent growth says that the methodology is not going to be reliable. You might be able to standardize growth for a set of control strains, but natural isolates are going to be highly variable and will likely not behave in a manner that you would wish or can predict.

For most wild type bacteria growing in rich medium, there is nothing that would notably change growth rate. For certain bacteria that are defective in producing some key components, that might be true. Although in rich medium generally most of these components are already provided. So I would say that in most cases there is nothing to add to rich media (such as LB, or YTE, nutrient broth etc) that would make a difference. I am only referring to common bacteria like Bacillus or enteric bacteria.
