In our WT CHO cell cultures we often observe large multinuclear features looking like syncytium of some 10-20 cells fused together. What could it be? Would subcloning help to get rid of those strange features? Could it be a viral contamination? Thanks for your opinions! Take care

Yes, I've seen these structures when the cells were passaged many times, in these cases it is necessary to discard this culture and start newly by thawing a new vial of cells. In general, the cells in the image do not look like they are contaminated but the culture shows too much cell density.
