I think people and organizations have realized what went wrong and what is good in terms of prudent financial management. A few of the lessons learned are:
1. Ignore marketing calls with optimistic forecasts.
2. Debt is dangerous and maintain enough cash reserves for rainy day.
Personally, I would like to first think of the term economic development as two distinct words - economy and development. Economic development as a single word appears to suggest that marketisation of the economy is the mantra for growth. It is actually only one part of the "development". Each sector of socio-economic activity like education, infrastructure, energy sources, water management, ecological / environmental balance, agriculture and land reform, protection and encouragement to village and cottage industries, etc, need the attention of governments in order to obtain development that is sustainable.
The successive economic crisis have brought all these factors into focus. Had it not been for the failures of capitalism, we would not be talking of human development as more fundamental to economic development.
Economy couldn't be seen as marketing products. There is the market aspect, which is natural, as business achievement , but their are also, the strategies of developments, management of the needs, regulation rules, cooperation, education, ... However finance must be only the mean to get for economy strategy, it couldn't be the purpose...
I d’like to mention a few lessons for small transitional economies which imported crises from developed countries. Unlike the developed countries, it affected the real sector of economy. The first one is diversification of sale market. Despite the crisis, there are the markets in the world which are less affected by the crisis. The second one, that is more important, it showed the unbalanced the model of economic growth of country that is based at the consumption, provided by remittances from abroad and is fragile and vulnerable. It should be elaborated and implemented concrete steps for its changing.
It´s maybe a bit out of the origin question, but if you haven't seen the movie i recommend it . And microwave experts there is a drawing of an antenna i like to figure out how it works.
Maybe what you really note is the lack of courage of many people to react against policies of income concentration that follow even during the crisis.
.
The acquiescence of much of the unemployed population of many countries shows that individualism proclaimed by neoliberal policies has internalized in the people to such an extent that even not seeing for years the possibility of returning populations to be first-class citizens, these sectors in the name small blessings that are decreasing day by day, continue to believe in the individual output.
