Dear researchers,
I have a question about G0 ref in HSsmall model (Plaxis)
Seismologists gave me a report with the results of determining the speed of P- and S-waves in engineering-geological elements (EGE) using penetration test.
Geologists gave me a report with soil characteristics G0 ref and y0.7 based on triaxial compression. And every EGE has different p ref value (100-400 kPa).
So, e.g. for clay G0 calculated from vs will be (4402 m/s * 0,002 kg/m3=387.2 MPa).
And the result of triaxial test for G0 ref is 160 MPa (p ref=400 kPa).
I do not quite understand the difference between the first and second value.
So with p ref=400 kPa the speed vs will be equal to ((sqrt(160/0.002))=280 m/s? Why?
