I need technical support regarding the determination of copper ions in water [Cu(I and II) (10–100 mg L-1)]. Please take into consideration the lack of direct measuring devices ICP and atomic absorption spectroscopy. The detection by spectrophotometer being more favorable.
There was a spec. method for Copper in the 1970's that used Diglyme. See old versions of APHA's 'Standard Methods of Water and Wastewater Analysis'.
Diethyldithiocarbamate; you can find multiple published standard methods for this analysis.
Mohammed... This is called speciation analysis. Do not go for total copper determination as those given by Mark or luis. Polarographic determination as recommended by Paul Milhem above is a suitable choice. It may give you a simultaneous polarogram showing the peaks of Cu (I) and Cu (II) separately using individual calibration by standard solution of the two species. For well equipped laboratory the ICP - MS is the best... Regards
For total copper there are several titration methods involving EDTA. Check Metrohm or one of the other autotitrator companies.
