Dear All, I have little doubt. Normally for the species level identification we all will under go for the DNA Sequencing using designed Primer....is it possible to identify the species by sequencing the cDNA (converted from mRNA) with the same primer designed for DNA sequencing?
Dear Vignesh, It depends on the choice of the molecular marker you are employing for identification. For instance if you are using a ITS marker, then probably you would fail to get them amplified from cDNA. If your marker is protein coding gene like tub, cox, etc., then you may be successful but that is again dependent on the primer sets.

Species level identification is usually done 16s ribosomal DNA so we may fail if we look for it using mRNA. It is usually done using non-coding regions.
