ABSTRACT
In this study, solar cells based on copper oxide and titanium dioxide were produced using the Reactive Direct Current Magnetron Sputtering (DC-MS) technique. TiO2/CuO, TiO2/CuO/Cu2O and TiO2/CuO/Cu solar cells were manufactured via this process. The TiO2 layer was deposited on indium-tin-oxide (ITO) coated glass or silicon, as the emitter layer. Subsequently, copper oxide thin film was deposited on this layer as the absorber. Solar cells were characterized using I-V and P-V characteristics, scanning electron microscopy (SEM), X-ray diffraction (XRD), ellipsometric and Hall effect measurements and quantum efficiency. Conversion efficiencies of solar cells present in this work are about three times higher in comparison of our previous PV devices.
