What determines customers' choice or preference for mobile service providers (MSPs)? It's an interesting study issue. Kindly advise me previous studies on this area.
You can try to add the factors, the number of the population on the teritory, the income per capita, the number of the subscribers using alternative operators, price for consumption - fixed and mobile subsrcibers; nuber of internet subsribers. An important factor is traffic in network - in own network; traffic in alternative networks, ect.
We have conducted a study on mobile service quality in the telecommunication sector of India. We have identified following four important factors that predict mobile service quality:
Core Service: The core service dimension of cellular service product relates to convenience of communication as the primary need of mobile users is to be connected anytime anywhere. Better connectivity through technology-based interactions is considered as a significant measure of service core product quality.
Customer Information Services: The customer information services is leveraged to create customer and supplier value through service performance which positively affects customer satisfaction that in turn enhances corporate performance and provide a differentiating competitive advantage. A good process is needed to measure customer’s perception of the value created for them by customer information services which include handling of queries, helpful and supportive staff, easy to resolve problems, knowledgeable employees, communication of new schemes, ready to clear doubts, error free transaction etc.
Billing Services:. The effective billing services measures include timely arrival of billing statements,, error free billing statements, easy and simple billing statements, processing of duplicate billing statements, payments of bill and effective queue management system. In addition behaviour of front-line employees, number of adequate counters for bill payments, good ambience of the billing halls, overall good physical environment etc. contribute to the billing dimension of mobile service quality.
Supplementary Services: The supplementary services enhance the core services by adding additional features to varied mobile service products. Various applications/services can be observed among the users, which ranged from telephone conversation and simple text messages (SMS), to multimedia messaging service (MMS) to download and enquiry service to internet access, depending on the capability of each mobile phone technology and services rendered.

Mobile services provider selection is complicated thing as all providers don't give same service in all areas. For example in Big cities all providers are available so network issue will not be there but in small villages Network may be the main factor for preference. second preference can be a schemes and services of the provider.
