It's very peculiar that we are able to have a BLAST output of the sequence having sequence in 5'-3' direction not in the reverse. What do you think, is the possible reason?
The blast output are shown in a 5'-3' direction as a convention.......it is only a way to show results....what matters is finally the 'extent of similarity' in the results.....blast can also show results specifically for 'only one' or 'both the strands'......Even if somebody makes a program to display sequences in 3'-5' direction....it will not affect the results in any manner....sequences will remain same in the databank...only a way to represent them will differ.....and then to analyze them further...you'll have to change the 'source code' of all other programs to read the sequences in a similar fashion....
