I'm trying to separete by HPLC-RP veratryl alcohol from its oxidation products, however, as the oxidation occurs the chromatographic peak for veratryl alcohol increases with the time contrary to the logic behavior. At the same time the corresponding aldehyde appears to increase its concentration. I have tried different gradients to improve the resolution (if there is coelution with other compound) but without succesful results. so I have been wondering if there is the possibility to find two different compounds strongly coeluting at the same retention time? And what we could do to solve this problem?
