We found by electron microscopy ultrastructural defects in the muscle of a KO mice. As the lacZ gene was inserted during KO, we are concerned by the possibility that lacZ expression itself causes the ultrastructural defects. Did anyone know of published data, showing that lacZ expression does not have any effect on muscle ultrastructure, as judged by electron microscopy? One or two references would be reinsuring. Thank you.
