I was working with a HPLC-ECD from EiCOM (model HTEC500), but I don't know if they have a branch office in Spain (or Europe). Because of its price, it would be the most interesting equipment for us. I am open to other systems.
For the estimation of monoamines through HPLC-ECD is good option. Waters provide fully equipped instrument costing around 22-25K US$. Shimadzu offers same functions with advanced ECD detector around 35-38K US$. Agilent will cost your around in between of these two. We are about to purchase the same configuration of waters.
I hope you can get the exact cost of instrument by simply asking them budgetary quote of the desired instrument from Waters, Shimadzu, Perkin-Elmer, Agilent and others as well.
I will recommend the purchase of the ECD detector if you have other its utility in broader way. Otherwise fluorescence detector will serve you same for monoamine analysis. We are having the similar estimation using HPLC-FD and now we are switching over to HPLC-ECD for the better sensitivity of analysis.
They supply ALEXYS HPLC/ECD system from Antec. They have a summary of what can be achieved @ http://www.myantec.com/support/tutorials/electrochemical-detection
