From the perspective of education, vigorous and high quality research underpins and nourishes degree-level learning environments, especially for graduate and post-graduate programs; it provides the inquisitive, critical and independent regimen that develops intellectual capability and advances the boundaries of knowledge and understanding
Our Department has specific agenda for research venture.
It has suggested several research activities concerned with solving common health problems in our localities and intended to reveal the biochemical knowledge and changes concerning these problems. Emphasis is particularly directed upon
1. Red blood cell enzymopathy (particularly G6PD deficiency)
2. Haemoglobinopathy ( e.g. sickle cell disease and thalassemia);
3. Risk factors of cardiovascular disease and DM particularly lipid profile
4. Oxidative stress
5. Biochemical markers in different types of Malignancy.
The students can choose any of the above provided they can fulfill the requirement needed to conduct such research and after discussing the topic with their supervisor
