Spleen cells are fused with myelomas and therefore Hybridomas are immortal? although they exhibit ploidy they somehow (~1%) manage to survive. Eventually they reach senescence and perish after 30-40 cell divisions? hayflick limit is only applicable to regular cells I suppose. So hybridomas are immortal how do we monitor how many times a single cell has divided before it dies.
Any labeling methods that are employed for this purpose?
