(context=bridge design) How do we account the effects of steel pins introduced in Elastomeric bearings?

We usually use steel pins in elastomeric bearing to enhance the translation resistance. But this steel pin must affect the degrees of freedom of the bearings. Can someone please explain how do we account its effects?
