In our lab, we are trying to understand the mechanisms by which certain xenobiotic compounds induce neurotoxicity using SH-SY5Y cell line as a in vitro model.

As of now, we are encountering a problem in establishing a healthy growing population of these cells in our lab. Also, according to ATCC, these cells tend to grow as a mixture of attached as well as suspended cells. If this is the case, which cell population should be considered for performing assays, especially flow cytometry based ones?

The media used to culture these cells is commercially available DMEM: F12 (1:1) with 10% serum.

Any input regarding this would be greatly appreciated. Thanks!
