Collaboration is very important and pivotal to rapid progress of a researcher. In collaborative research you learnt from your other colleagues whether local or international. It is also a good way of gaining more citation count in quality research output/ publications.
Of course good.Due to most high quality experiences are concentrated in few developed countries, international scientific collaboration between advanced contries,s scientists and those in developing countries might provides an important expertise for the latter to enhance knowledge and solve local problems of them countries.
There are are of course good reasons to support international collaboration. However there are also challenges for some researchers due to language, time differences and funding sources. In addition, despite the positive effect of new communication technologies on scientific research, results from a research study provides evidence for the role of physical proximity or collocation of authors as being a predictor of collaboration impact (Lee, Brownstein et al. 2010).
Collaboration, Good or not? Why is local, regional and International collaborations important to a researcher?
Net net finding healthy collaboration have more advantages than disadvantages. Possible reason collaboration is important because different researchers are unique or come from unique or different backgrounds, cultures, geographical areas etc. so that rich contents / ideas can be shared / exchanged / fused to generate the positive research outcome better & faster.

It is generally agreed that collaboration in research offers many benefits and that it should be encouraged. Notably, collaboration among individual researchers - that is, bringing them together in larger groups often interdisciplinary in nature, has gained a considerable momentum in recent years for the purpose of enhancing the quality and productivity of scientific research . As such six basic merits can be mentioned:
1) Strategic management structures aimed to cater interdisciplinary research involving various institutional activities,
2) Linking research with practice settings by providing more engagement and involvement,
3) Inspiring personal ambitions and more widespread academic popularity, 4) Furthering opportunities for future funding, 5) Enhancing cultural and personal experiences, and finally,
6) Addressing national and global problems while ameliorating goodwill and understanding among the targeted scholars.
Collaboration, either local, regional or international is good for a researcher in order to enhance the scope and depth of research, and to advance skills and knowledge. There is indeed a limit to what a researcher can do working alone. But by synergising together more can be done in less time, and more useful results can be generated.
Collaborations (Local, Regional & International) are indeed helpful in carrying out scientific studies, since one gets opportunity of learning and applying different skills, and techniques and obtaining better knowledge/ ideas. It also fulfills the ambition and zest of someone for doing research work of interest.
Collaborations are important for a researcher in several perspectives:
a). Carrying out a study and understanding a research problem is manageable in collaboration with researchers in a local area or a country. However, these local collaborations might not provide sufficient facilities/ opportunities.
b).Understanding the same issue or problem, may be with better facilities and ways can be managed in a better way by collaborating with certain regional institutions in nearby countries.
c).The level of facilities and approaches is better and may be even entirely different in the international institutions in developed / or other developed countries.
Research is done for the world, not just for personal satisfaction. Faced with this consideration, proactive collaboration with no derogatory effect on contributors can only result in greater projection and diffusion. So let's think more about international partnerships and this portal has helped in this interaction. The isolated publication in a journal, by the highest impact, will never be as effective as allowing itself to be exchanged of ideas, criticisms or encouraging comments.
