Has anyone co-cultured cancer cells with muscle cells to study their potential interaction? And which cell lines and systems would be appropriate to use?

For muscle cells you can potentially use human primary myoblasts or C2C12, which grows very well and form nice myotubes upon differentiation.

Very intriguing experimental designs can be considered in your experiment!!!
For example, why not set up the extracellular matrix (ECM) such as matrigel or collagen layer between tumor cell zones and muscle layer? Tumor cells have to exhibit the invasion into the muscle tissue before destroying the ECM as described in the below figure.
