I use carbon paper in my research work as substrate in hydrogen evolution reaction. My sample has good properties based on characterization, but I reach different results in different electrochemical test. Can anyone solve my proble? Should I change my substrate because maybe it's not good substrate and my sample doesn't good deposite on it? my sample has layered structure and related to transition metal dichalcogenide.

Dr. Zhao, I use hydrothermal method for synthesizing and immerse carbon papers in the solution. It's well for HER test? It's not better to use carbon rod as substrate? or it won't affect on my results? If I change my substrate and deposition method (e.g. electrophoretic), will results change?
