Capacitive Deionization: Some basic questions?

Hello everyone,

I am a new learner in the field of CDI. I read some review papers on CDI recently but still have some questions. Hope I can get some comments from you.

(1) Why carbon anode: As I know, carbon can be oxidized when used as an anode and some organic carbon may be leased to solution.

(2) Dose CDI has some differences with electro-sorption?

(3) If I use porous carbon as cathode but non-porous carbon (such as graphite) as anode, will the CDI process limited by the anode materials? Does the two process (adsorption on anode and cathode) coordinate?
